You only have to type into Google “the best lengthening mascara” to find this one. I was on the hunt for the best mascara in the world to lengthen my lashes, so this is exactly what I did and I found Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara came up as number 1, (although it has recently slipped to number 2); this came as no surprise to me as I had heard such good reviews about this products, so off I went to Selfridges to get my hands on it.
Estee lauder is a premium brand, so it was always going to come with added benefits; it claims that the mascara is conditioned with a complex enriched with panthenol (vitamin B5) and that the formula is fragrance-free, ophthalmologist-tested and okay for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers… sounds like a win win situation to me!! what could possibly go wrong?…
The website says that the mascara is buildable, which I think it is, but not in a good way.. more of a clumpy, waxy way which I hate, it seems to have the power to clump all of your eyelashes together into just 3 or 4 spider legs.. which is NOT flattering.
It claims that there are two reasons for the “extreme length” – and its all down to the wand. It states that this wand can hold lot of product on the brush, meaning that one swipe goes a long way, but it also defines the lashes like a comb does because the triangle shaped cut and tapered end which allows it to reach every lash… supposedly.
This mascara is said to have a mouse-like formula, which I do agree with, its not like the usual liquidy mascara, which should be a good thing, but instead it just makes the lashes dry and thick.. not “light-weight” like it states.
It is supposed to not clump and smudge throughout the day, and to be fair it doesn’t smudge that much.. but the clumps are a whole different story. The lash thickening fibres are supposed to help lengthen the lashes, however it just makes them look a little clumpy and spider like, which is the main flaw of this mascara.
The one good thing which I will say about this mascara is that it does tend to stay on for a long time and is relatively easy to remove, not too harsh on the eyelashes like some drugstore mascaras can be.
So, my overall thoughts? I don’t really understand why this mascara is referred to as “false lashes in a tube”..I definitely don’t agree, unless the false lashes which they have in mind are crap.
I don’t think that it fulfils any of its claims that well and the bottle doesn’t even last that long. I think the worst parts for me was how dry and un-lengthening it was, I much prefer natural collection mascaras or urban decay ‘Perversion’.
Its a no from me this time, but thankyou so much for reading!!
Love you always,
